He is the God of our Salvation

For those interested in life without Jim, go here.

This morning life without Jim started at 6 a.m. with a boy hollering to get up 2 hours earlier than normal. Impressed? I am not. :)

But we did have a lovely walk this morning in the sun. Just very lovely (minus the screaming of a boy frustrated that I wouldn't let him out of the stroller to run after big trucks)... but nice none-the-less. :)

So I found it hard this morning (like yesterday) to be able to concentrate on doing my devotions.

As I was attempting to read Psalm 85, it was impressed upon me how God is indeed the God of our salvation, and we can call out to him. Check out these words written by the sons of Korah.
1LORD, you were favorable to your land;
you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2You forgave the iniquity of your people;
you covered all their sin.
Selah
3You withdrew all your wrath;
you turned from your hot anger.
God is the one who forgives our sin. God is the one who restores his people.

4Restore us again, O God of our salvation,
and put away your indignation toward us!
5Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger to all generations?
6Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?
7Show us your steadfast love, O LORD,
and grant us your salvation.

His people can call out to him. They can plead with God to show his love. They can plead with God to grant them salvation. His people can call out to him. They can say, Oh God, please help us. We need you. Restore us, let us rejoice in you.

8Let me hear what God the LORD will speak,
for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints;
but let them not turn back to folly.
9Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,
that glory may dwell in our land.

And what will God do? He will listen. He will bring his salvation to his people. He will let them glory in him.

10Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11Faithfulness springs up from the ground,
and righteousness looks down from the sky.
12Yes, the LORD will give what is good,
and our land will yield its increase.
13Righteousness will go before him
and make his footsteps a way.

Do you see that the Lord knows what is best for his people?
The Lord's way is the way of righteousness. The Lord is steadfast in his love for his children. Where the Lord is, so is peace, love and righteousness.

Does my heart good to read these words today. May it do your heart good as well.
