Works for me Wednesday - seed keeper

I was out with my hubbie the other day at a gardening shop.
I was browsing through their catalogue and noticed they sell a product called a seed keeper.

I thought..wow...interesting idea! But whoa...too much money for me.
But as I was looking at it I thought...hmmm.... A good old photoalbum should work just as well.

Get one of those albums that have the picture pockets, put the seed packs in them. Saves keeping seeds in an old clementine container. Keeps everything nice neat and tidy. AND I'll be able to store by group too. Like all the lettuce goes on one page, peas on another and so forth. And should be able to do this for less than $10. Pretty neat huh?

I like it!
I will do this!
Should work for me!

Wrapping Paper

Yesterday I posted about the "fun" the boy and I had re-organizing our gift wrap and gift bags. We had lots of fun, mingled with moments of frustration.
I was reminded when I stopped in at Shannon's Rocks In my Dryer that today is works for me Wednesday and I thought...hey...this works for me. Maybe it will work for someone else too!

So Go to Shannon's to read more hints. Below is mine.

People give me gifts.
I tend to go...cool wrapping paper... rip! Or wow...NEAT BAG! And carefully remove item from gift bag. Then I am left with
1. ripped wrapping paper
2. nice gift bag
3. tissue paper

I keep the wrapping paper if I didn't destroy it too badly, after all, it can always be used to wrap a smaller gift in. I also keep the bags and tissue paper as it is nice and does not come cheap.

Of course then comes the problem of what do you do with it all? Over the years, you get a lot of paper and bags especially if you have events happen in your life (as I did with a wedding and baby and leaving job).

One Christmas my hubbie got me a long rectangular box that is made just for holding gift wrap. It has a storage for ribbons and tape and scissors. I can get about 10 gifts bags in, as well as lots of wrapping paper rolls (the standard size, not the really long ones). I keep ALL my Christmas wrap in that box. He got it, I am fairly sure, at Canadian Tire.

In box two I keep all other gift bags and the tissue paper that came with them. I also have been able to keep five gift boxes in there are well. Folded down nicely. It's just a regular flat under the bed storage container, that you can find most anywhere..this one I think came from Wal-mart.

In box three we have anything that's odd that is used for wrapping gifts. I.e. cloth gift bags, plastics for around blankets etc. This container I've had for years, so it probably came from Zellers or K-mart.

Anyways, saves lots of aggravation to have all wrapping paper in one area of the house. In fact it was really neat to see that I have excess baggage and should be able to sell some at my spring garage sale. Woohoo! :)

Works for me Wednesday

Around our house, Sunday's is a day of rest and worship.

We try hard on Saturdays to get things done so that Sunday's aren't caught up in the mundanes of life. I'll do up the boyo's diapers (wears cloth). I try to have the house in decent shape. I don't worry about it a whole as we don't do visiting very much on Sundays since my hubbie preaches two services and really needs to just relax and prepare. I try to have all the church mail taken care of during the week and so on and so forth.

I don't cook on Sundays...well...other than make breakfast.

So what do we do for food?
1. Saturdays I try to make supper ready for Sunday. Usually I cook something that can just sit and then be eaten.
2. We have sandwiches or smoothies for lunch.
3. We always have instant, ready to eat meals in the Fridge/freezer. yes, I know they are not cost-efficient, but they are time-efficient and tasty. BUT the stouffer's lasnagne's are balanced, as is the PC shepherd pie. So we can eat right, and not have to work hard at it. :)

Works for us!

Works for me Wednesday

So my WFMW thing is how I organize doing my housework. :)

I know...thrilling eh!
BUT for someone who isn't the world's greatest house-keep, being semi-organized helps.

So Mondays I do nothing except morning dishes and not even those if my hubbie really wants to get out the door as in yesterday. :)

Tuesday - Laundry, marvellous laundry, plus usually sweeping the floor, giving a once over to the living room, tidying the stairs, and so on. Basically whatever I can fit in around laundry, marvellous laundry. :)

Wednesday - clean out the piggies, every other week I give the kitchen a good going over - including washing the floor (no mop, just a good hands and knees jobbie), usually do the fish tanks too.

Thursday - upstairs is done. some weeks better than others. Once a month (is the aim anyways) the dogs get a bath.

Friday - whatever is leftover from the week that particularly needs attentioning.

Saturday - clean out the piggies, tidy kitchen, and whatnot.

I know, not terribly organized, but better than completely winging it which means things get forgotten (and that's not a good thing with a wee one in the house). And everything has to fit around everything else we do AND an active little 18 month old boy. On busy days... it don't get done! :)

Works for me Wednesday - Christmas

This is a Christmas thing. :)

Having for years seen people struggle with their Christmas decorations I decided as soon as I could afford it, to purchase bins for all my Christmas decorations.

I labelled them - tree, house, village and lights. Everything goes in the bin it is meant for. It means that it is SO easy to take out the box I need so I don't have to sort through everything trying to find...say... my Santa hat or stockings, I just now go to the house box and there they are.

Also when I put my lights away, I don't just throw them in the box all jumbled. I neatly wrap them in their own wire and put them in stacks in the box. So much easier and MUCH less frustrating for the next year.

Works for me.
