We're camped at Fanshawe Conservation area. we started off at site 511 and moved to 510. Proved to be providential of God that we decided to stay in London rather than go up to Brant as it gave Jim a chance to do the funeral service for a beloved saint from our church.
We are Happy to welcome to guests so fill free to stop in.
Justin has become a better swimmer and is learning to brush his own teeth without the hassles of "you do it mommy" that I get at home.
He loves the splash pad...and I have to admit...I like it too! :) It's been a good time for us and we still have most of a week to go!
I Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

We're back again :)
Wow, what a nice time away we had.
We camped at Bronte Creek Provincial Park.
We visited with friends of Jim's from college days. Young family with two young children. Justin played well with them.
We hung out and did "nothing".
We read lots of books (all three of us).
We slept.
Justin played with children.
He enjoyed playing in "the barn" in the day use area.
We went swimming.
We did some sight-seeing and some shopping.
We ate well. We ate poorly. :) Hey...we're camping. :)
Justin cried when we left. He wanted to stay camping. "want to stay camping and get chocolate milk!" Such a mournful cry.
When I returned I had a litter of babies!!!!!!!!! Two in fact. A singleton from a new mom. And eight from my big back doe. The new mom I expected, the eight well..... were a really, really nice surprise from a late running doe. :)
The good: relaxing, laughing, reading, camp fires, visiting, etc....
The odd: seeing a little boy rip off his clothes and run around the camp site peeing as he went. "Justin! Put some clothes on, we go pee in the bathroom!" "NO! Pee on the grass!"
The bad: LONG grass on our campsite - made the campsite seem like it was wet all the time, Yellow Jackets galore!, and mosquitos as constant.

As promised...
I did promise to post a bit on our camping trip.
Even though it started off rough, by the end of the week, I was able to thoroughly enjoy watching Justin have fun.
Some of the things that he did:

He played with Sassy dog food bowl (yes, it was clean). He put his elephant, and various sticks that he found it in and then he would sit and spin in it! Such fun!

He also enjoyed (thoroughly I might add) playing in his rubber maid container with types of things. He had his plastic tub animals, as well as well...you can tell from the picture can't you! :)
One of the things we did almost every day was visit the house where Jim's mom was house-sitting. They have a pool. The three of them would go swimming. Justin enjoyed himself tremendously. One of the things he liked most was crawling in and out of the pool. He also like splashing the dog. Wiley is a old goofy golden retriever who let Justin do just about anything with him. Justin crawled over him, under him, took his toys, and had a blast. Wiley tolerated it all really, really well. :)

One of the funniest thing I thought Justin did while we camped was....fool his mom-mom. I thought he was going over to check out our van, instead he decided that he should crawl across the road to another campsite! Fortunately I caught up to him as he was going over the road. When he got there, the garbage they left at the back of the campsite caught his eye and off he crawled as fast as he could. On the way there he came across this patch of long, really cool (as in to the touch) feeling grass. He stopped! He looked surprised. He turned and sat. Wiggled his bum. Turned and sat. He was just captivated by the feel of this grass. It was so nice, cool and soft to the touch. He completely forgot about the garbage (not that I minded) and just took in that grass. When he tired of it, dad-dad had made it back to our campsite and Justin thought we should go get him. Off we went!

Oh...we bought this screen tent for camping. We thought it would be a good way to keep Justin confined in a bug-free zone for playing. I had it all nicely set up. Justin played in it "properly" one time! And then he discovered it had a zipper! oh boy!!!! I can do that too!!!!! Up and down, crawl under, up and down, crawl in, up and down, up and down, up and down, oh...crawl out! Head for fire quickly (while loudly saying "ah") (have to warn mom-mom somehow!)
Silly boy.....
Had a blast. Made the whole camping trip worth while! :)

Taking a Break
It has been an interesting couple of weeks.
Katrina blows through and makes a mess of things in the states. On the news we see pictures of the horrible destruction caused by this hurricane. New Orleans is mostly underwater. People are acting like the sinful people that we are...looting, shooting, giving authorities lots of attitude, showing their racial and economic biases, not caring for others properly and so forth. But we are also starting to see more of the better side of mankind...people coming out and providing care for the less fortunate, dogs and cats being rescued, clean-up has started. It is good to see that starting to come out as well. It's hard just seeing all the bad things that people can do being displayed in the media.
The whole family caught a cold! Boy was that a tiring couple of weeks. Justin ended up sleeping with his mamma because he was so raspy sounding for a few days. All seems better now though. :) This was through all the big hoopla about the hurricane which made it all seem worse too. Not always sure why things work out like that, but when you are feeling bad yourself, when bad things happen to other people it likes...man...the whole world is crashing in. :) Good time to remind oneself that God indeed is in control of all that happens.
We finally had a chance to go camping! Justin was a good camper. :) That was so nice to learn and to see. Things went well. We didn't go far from home because it was a first go for us, and since it went so well we are feeling much better about going farther away in a couple of weeks. My hubbie is part of the Magical Flying Camper Club on-line. He has lots of fun chatting with all these camper people and they are having a thanksgiving get-together so he said "won't it be fun to join them?" So that is where we are headed for the thanksgiving weekend. I hope he won't expect me to do lots of socializing....I camp to get away from it all too...but some socializing is fun too! Just not 24/7! I do expect it will be a good amount of fun though.
Friday afternoon Justin got his first set of shots. He was not impressed after it was over. He liked meeting the doctor, and didn't notice the first shot, but the second one just made him hollar! He really needed to be with his mamma that night! Good thing that God made us people that need to be in relationship with each other. He made the lack of sleep that night worthwhile for me in that I was able to comfort and care for my little boy. But all was well in the morning...good enough that we went to our annual church fair. It was a good day. Lots of people that we knew met him for the first time so that was fun.
Today is the 55th anniversary at my parent's church. Since Jim is their moderator he will be preaching there. It means an early start for us. It should be a good time. We are part of the Reformed Church of America denomination. Here is their website: www.rca.org It is interesting to be able to look back to see what God has done over the years with his people. Makes me wonder sometimes where he will take us in the future. We do as a people though, need to stay focused on staying true to his word. There are things in the church that I find really troubling, and it is my constant prayer that we would return to the truth of God's word. That we would return to being a people of prayer, a people who live in the joy of fearing God. If we don't, I really wonder what will happen to this denomination in the future, and what it means to our witness to the world at large. But today is day to celebrate what God has done for us! Let us rejoice in that! And pray for future celebrations!!!!
