I Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

What I'm listening to with Justin....
"happy birthday dear God" being sung.
All his stuffies are having a party, and they are singing "happy birthday dear God" in many different voices. :)
makes me smile.

Today in Church
Justin usually goes out of the church service during the hymn before the sermon is preached.
We've been doing sunday school lessons with him.
Today we looked at Genesis three.
The synopsis. God made a nice place for adam and eve to live. Everything was nice to each other. in the middle of the garden God put a tree and said to Adam and Eve...DON'T eat the fruit or you will die. Adam and Eve disobeyed God and had to leave the nice garden and they eventually died.
After we drew pictures and talked about it (amidst a 1000 why questions) Justin's response was...
J- No mommy...shut the bible... it's wrong.
me - Wrong? What do you mean Justin?
J- Why they die? They don't die. That not real. Shut that bible. I don't like that story it's wrong.
me - but Justin they did die because they couldn't be with God.
J- No...see walking away...No being fake. (that's dying to Justin).
(looking at the pictures we drew).
I don't like that snake. That snake not talking with that lady. That lady NOT being bad. That lady stay in nice garden. That snake being bad! and then laughter...SNAKES DON"T TALK Mommy!!!!!
I COULD NOT budge him.
The story was wrong.
The lady was just fine. She was not going to be fake. That man was bad and shouldn't listen to the snake. That man shouldn't talk with that snake in the nice place. and snakes really don't talk.
Children....stretch you sometimes......
So how would you handle this? Because I'm stumped!
On an interesting note though while going through this lesson with Justin I discovered this:

On an interesting note though while going through this lesson with Justin I discovered this:
In Genesis three I read this:
He said to the woman, "Did God actually say, 'You shall not eat of any tree in the garden'?" 2And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3but God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'"But in Genesis Two God's actual command was this:
16And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, 17but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."So Eve not only listened to the snake challenging what she thought God said...she actually changed what God had said in the first place. I just found that enlightening.

Things one Teaches a child without meaning to
1. to drink out of a pitcher without a glass (in hubby's words...gross!)
2. to have bunnies swim with them (mommy saves them before boy child drowns them)
3. to eat donuts for breakfast when nothing else is available (what? you don't ever??).
4. rabbit pellets taste good (if one is a rabbit) so one boy child mysteriously becomes a rabbit (go figure that one..... ) :)
5. pouring milk from a pitcher into a pop bottle results in a big mess (no I didn't teach that one inadvertently, but he saw me pour something from a pitcher into a glass and thought he could do the same).

Birthday and other such things

Justin is now three years old. We celebrated his birthday on Sunday, family came up, seemed like folks had an enjoyable time. I even made a cake AND decorated it. Wasn't the worlds best decorating job but hey...he's three, he was happy and he got to help! :) I'll need to post a pic but right now my camera is somewhere in this house where I can't see it. :) Being three has meant some changes in Justin's life.
1. No more bottles during the day except at nap times and bedtime. All other times nada. he's not happy. But he can do the other, so I want to encourage the other. I haven't forced a complete separation, but I am helping him give them up a bit more. (I'm getting sick of bottles)2. No more car seat. He is now in a booster seat. Wow...what a change for a boy who likes things to stay the same. Yeah for Uncle Fred bringing us their old booster seat. :)
3. A bit more is expected from him in helping to clean things up around here. He's a big boy now don'tcha' know! :)

What else.....plants are growing well in the garden. I'm a bit unimpressed that my "bush" squashes aren't bush squashes and seem to be taking over the world at this point. They are vining everywhere it seems. I don't like. No I don't!
Next week we are on holidays. Had a bit of a panic yesterday. The girls who were going to care for our bunnies canceled on us. I called the CRC church to see if they knew anyone in town with youngsters who might like to make some cash and a family came through for us. BUT WOW...what a bit of a panic.
Jim managed for the most part to fix the muffler on my car. Welding and everything. :) He's my man!
Going to the market tomorrow. Bringing some bunnies with me to sell to folks who requested delivery to Kitchener. Four bunnies to find new homes. Yeah! :) $40 bucks in my pocket--- double yeah! :) Update: brought four with me, came back home with two of them. Fellow backed out at the last minute. Hadn't spoken with all affected parties first.
Anyways, got to go walk Sassy and care for the bunnies. talk at yah later.

The Beach
Took the boy to the beach (the Pinery).
Had a quick lunch first, filled with comments about keeping his food safe from the hunting ants. (ants hunt for food aka...hunting ants).
Boy....did he have fun. Sand, water, toys, other children. What more could an almost three year old ask for?
After an small argument about the need for ear plugs and head band, he went swimming. Mostly just walking around in the water but some 'swimming' as well.
He fell in... it was alarming...but mommy rescued him. :)
My fake crocs became boats. :)
Comments from the boy:
Justin, should we go to the beach again?
Yes! Want go now? :)
The only thing he didn't like was the sand that sticks to your feet when you're all wet from swimming. Hard to get off and just a bit "ick" feeling. He'll adjust. :)
So if you are in my neck of the woods and want to go the beach....just stop on by and we'll happily go to the beach (we have a pass so just ride with us). :)

- I swimming.

I was tempted to post this...
Yesterday I was ready to put out an all bulletin alert.
Justin's beloved TAGU has been missing.
We lost him Tuesday night.
We had a bereft little boy.
He thought mommy was mad at him and had taken his TAGU on him. Not sure where he got that idea, but he'd say .... Mommy happy? And when I'd say yes, Mommy is happy, he then ask, Where happy tagu? If I would then say....Where did Justin put Tagu because Mommy doesn't know where he is. His response would be downstairs? Mommy TAGU downstairs? Justin want Happy Tagu? Where my kitty?
We had him sleep with Sparks ..... a black stuffed kitty with a similar long stringey tail. But Sparks is NOT TAGU. And he very much wanted Tagu he did.
We had searched the house many a time for Justin's beloved tagu...to no avail. NO tiger cat to be found anywhere. We knew Tagu had to be in the house somewhere because we hadn't gone anywhere on Tuesday or Wednesday. Tuesday Justin didn't leave the house even to walk the dog with me. ARGH!!! heartbreaking to have a sad little boy who wants his tagu so badly. .....but we couldn't find the stuffed tiger cat anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But then....... Jim found him. Oh my darling man found TAGU. He was hiding in the lazy boy. Oh!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have him!!! We have him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah......I'll be able to make a little boy smile this morning. :) AH!!! Praise God..total answer to prayer. :)
