Closing Admonition in 1st Corinthians

I read this line
13Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 14Let all that you do be done in love.
I found it in the midst of Paul's closing greetings to the Corinthian church in 1 Corinthians 16. For some reason, it made me smile. :) But when I continue to think on this verse I see it as a good verse to memorize.

Be watchful - that's an active verb. It's something we are to do. We can't just be sitting around. it implies alertness to dangers, to opportunities etc.

Stand Firm in the Faith - more action. It takes belief that what you believe in is true. It means not being swayed by other thoughts/opinions/beliefs. It is standing firm.

Act like men - be who God made you to be. if you're a man...act like it! Especially true I think for today when men it seems, are often being trained to act like women. They aren't women, they are men. They need to act like what they are. (even if we women end up being confounded by them time and again) :)

Be strong - not weak things tossed to and fro. Strong in the Lord. Strong in our faith.

Let all you do be done in love. Without love, all that we do is worthless. Re-read chapter 13 of this same book for an expansion on this idea. :)
