Today I will be taking a look at 1 Thessalonians 5. It is the last chapter in this book. As normal, today I will be just doing an overview of the chapter, tomorrow I will start looking at it more in-depth.
As I read Chapter 5 I see that it continues with the theme from ch. 4, where Paul is talking about the end times. Paul's approach to it is a bit different though. Rather than assuring his readers of the hope they have in Christ, he reminds them that they should not be surprised when Christ returns, but awake and ready for his return. He again reminds them to show brotherly love toward each other.
This line leads into his next section where he tells them how to live as brothers to each other. He covers such things as respecting the church leadership, and helping our fellow believers in a variety of ways from delivering admonishment to just being patient.
He then closes off the letter by greeting then and making them promise to read the letter to the whole church.
