Ah....I got it done....

For the last three-four weeks I've been working on getting my composter/rabbit waste gone from the winter.

I put it into my gardens so it's a lot of work moving dirt, shovelling compost, and then moving dirt back.

I had enough to do all but one of my gardens.

THEN I rotated the new pile.
my goal is to rotate my compost every other week. Yes, it will be a lot of work, but I'll get lovely compost out of it and hopefully be able to sell it! :) I've already managed to sell some, so it would be nice to sell more. Good way for me to get rid of rabbit feed bags as well. :)

But today I got it all done!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've very happy.

justin's room

did the monthly tackle the boys' room today.

Took some negotiation as justin didn't want his room changed. But I needed it changed as the set up for the train track simply didn't work for me.

but we talked about it after the initial tears and together found a workable solution.

I was most pleased by this.

My Sister had a multi-birthday party

So yesterday my sister had the family up for a birthday party. For herself and her two children.

It was a good day.

Judy as always is an excellent cook.

We talked, we laughed, we listened.

And now, everyone is older. :)

We left a bit early as Jim needed to preach, he was totally bagged by day's end.

Help Pickle go home :)

Pickle (named by my son)
gentle, neutered young tom cat
friendly, very friendly.
living in our back yard.

Never Say Never

My dad told me once, never say never.
I scoffed.

I don't do that anymore, as too often it's bitten me in the rear.

Take this week for instance.
A while back I said "I won't be one of those people who feeds stray cats".

I'm feeding a stray cat.

Not only that....it's been named. Pickle!

We'll be putting up signs saying...whose cat is this? Come get him!

Stray Cats - Stray Cat Strut

One of Jim's favourite songs can be found here.

Our household :)

So yesterday I went to the doctor.

She has put me on a couple of different meds.
She has also referred me to a gastroenterologist specialist in London.

she had a look of perplexity on her face so she's trying to figure out just what is going on with my stomach/esphagus and such like.

Ever since I was a teen I've been having reflux issues but was basically told not to worry about it as a teen. By the time i was a young adult I worked up the nerve to ask my doctor (at the time) about it, and she did tests and said I don't have acid reflux, but what I have is 'a wonky valve'. Just what that is technically I cannot recall. It's never really been an issue as it hasn't been painful, just an inconvenience.

Ever since taking the nexium to control what my current doc thought was gastritis, when I have reflux now it is distinctly painful when it occurs. I have a constant ache in my chest and a feeling of something in my throat. I am fortunately not as tired as I have been in the past three months, but do run out of steam by end of day and only want to sit and play on my computer (much to Jim's chagrin). I find it wearing.

Jim is back to work full-time.

He is not quite back to full-speed yet with who HE is. Takes him longer to prepare a sermon, has difficulty reading out-loud, and doesn't 'catch' things as quick. BUT we expect that he'll make a full recovery over time.

Books he's not keen on

I thought he'd like it, boy was I wrong.
He'll stomp out of the room if I try to read it to him.

He likes the pictures, and if I shorten up the story ALOT for him, he likes it so-so but otherwise, it's very much a no go.

My boy LOVES cats, these cats books are pretty good

again, mommy, again? Please? (with a very cute smile added)

This one inspires chuckles as well. The kitten reminds him of milo. :)

This one is fun to read along with mommy, and inspires lots of questions!

This one surprised me, he likes it. I thought it might be too wordy for him, but he adores it, and he's very quiet listening to me read it and he just looks and looks at the pictures.

The cat in this book is like Milo. Follows his child everywhere. I think that's way Justin likes it. :)

Books that a boy just likes

My boy likes trains, so does the boy in this book.

Any of the frog books by Max Velthuijs
The current favourite is

He likes the pics in this book.

The Jasper Explores books are a huge hit! :)

Books to make a four year old laugh

First time I read this book I just hooted. Justin laughed too. :)

This one makes Justin giggle. :) Silly dragon.

Frenetic Kinetics!

I find this fascinating and want to know just how do they do it? The popping popsicle sticks -- that's what I want to know! the rest is just fascinating, but work!

Today was an okay day

So I woke up feeling pretty good, other than my normal "sore throat, got something that won't quite go down feeling". But overall feeling okay. Nice that. I've had that two days now which is good. :) Lasted until about 2 p.m. I slowly started to feel tired and blah again. And just rather uncomfortable in my own body. I am getting very tired of this.

yesterday I managed to finish the basement... getting it organized that is. All I have left to do is the garage sale corner, but April is coming. :)

I have a doc appointment booked for next week, see if she has any ideas as to what is causing issues for me. Somewhat hopeful, though not very.

Jim is back to work. Last week he preached one service, he's planning on preaching two this Sunday.

Went to the dentist yesterday. Justin's chipped tooth has become a cavity, and he has a small one on another tooth. It would seem that he's inherited my teeth so we'll be looking into ways to help minimize damage and to teach more proactive care. (no being like daddy with only brushing once in a while). :)

Cinnamon has gone home again. He's a rabbit of my own breeding that went to a local family who has helped me with rabbit care. He's turned out to be as lovely as I thought he would. Just a lovely lovely lad. He was here for 10 days.

What else....Traded a bunny today. One largish broken chocolate Holland lop for a younger broken black holland lop. LC brought along a former doe of mine for a date with one of my bucks, but does being what they are...she would have NOTHING to do with the buck we wanted her with and went to be with Wiggers instead. Does can be frustrating at times. If kits result I'll get kits back, otherwise, no harm no foul. But it does make me laugh at how picky some rabbits can be. :)

Justin enjoys nursery school and I like having time to myself, but there are times when I think he'd be just as fine staying at home. I do think it's good for him to out with other children a bit more, but ah, there are times when I wonder about leaving him home with me. it's a challenge to balance that one out and I have to admit, I don't know the answer.

Not a whole lot more to say. So bye! :)

it's been a bit

So I thought I'd give an update.

Jim seems well on the mend.
he's started back to work part-time this week.
He's "having fun" reading the labels of everything. Do you know how hard it is to find low sodium foods? when the doc said make food from scratch, he literally meant... make things from scratch so it's a bit of a challenge! Thought I had it in the bag this morning with the pancakes I made...only to learn that white flour isn't what he wants/needs right now... so it's like okay.... AH!!! :) we'll do them differently next time.

Anyone have a good pancake recipe NOT using white flour???

Me... my health seemed to improve but now I feel like I'm back at square one. Rather frustrating that. Trying to figure out what I should do next. Jim says call the doc, but I"m somewhat skeptical that it will do any good to do so.

Our son...a happy, friendly, learning lad. He's a good lad overall, and tries hard to please, though sometimes.. well... he's four. :) On Tuesday he had his three month ENT appointment. He has some congestion in the right ear, but his hearing is good. His left ear will probably need a patch on it sometime, his tonsils have gone from large to medium! We can now move from two sprays of nasonex down to one in each nostril and he has a follow up appointment in three months again.
