Your Clothing Shall Not Wear Out

I was blithely reading in Deuteronomy 8 this morning, not expecting to have anything catch my eye or spirit because I'm still tired from a busy weekend and such like. And I read these words:
2And you shall remember the whole way that the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. 3And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. 4Your clothing did not wear out on you and your foot did not swell these forty years.
God has just commanded the people to remember what he did for them in the wilderness. The acts that God did are supposed to make it easier for his people to do what he tells them to. All the humbling, the testing and the caring that God did for his people.

Did you notice that he cared for them enough that their clothing did no wear out on them and their feet did not swell? For forty years they wandered in the desert! 40 years! who of us has clothes that will last us 40 years? Especially in the desert.. all that rough sand blowing about. Having to care for critters and such like. And God made it so their clothing lasted them.

Seems like such an insignificant detail...but it shows the depth of God's care for his people.

He cares for us deeply.

Read the rest of the chapter. It continues to show how much God cares for his people. For that matter.....read the whole book, and then the book it's contained within. Read it, see it, close your eyes and taste it... God cares for us. He really does. Be part of his family, it is the best place to be.
